Cali or Bust, Nikki & Gus

Hello everyone!

I have been offered a job (contingent on passing a background/credit check) with an hourly wage I can actually live off of and great benefits, which I have not had in years. The downside to this, it requires me to move back to California from here in Utah.

I hate asking for help. I understand it was my decisions that got me out here but if I don't at least ask....

My belongings must now be placed in storage (or sold) since at this point, I can only get myself back. Instead of transporting it to my property in California all at once, it would take a few months, if not longer, costing me extra money in storage.

I am looking to raise $20,000. Yes I am aiming high.

Here is how I would be using these funds.

The cost to move back, and to cover bills and such as I wait for the background check - $5000

To get my car paid off - $9,000

To get credit cards paid off - $4,000

(the car and credit card interest rates are stupid high at ~30%)

Since the job has a credit check, I would love to show things paid off as a CYA of sorts. At the very least though, getting back to California is the main goal.

***My story of how I got where I am now***

With the help of two of my incredible friends, I relocated here in January.

Things in Utah have been both better than expected and worse than expected. Though not significantly, the cost of living may be lower, and my debt doesn't care where I live. With what they pay and what I must spend on gas, trying to drive for Amazon Flex is no longer financially feasible, and being a driver at Pizza Hut is insufficient.

Before I moved out here -

Once upon a time I was young and dumb. I racked up some debit without understanding the consequences. After realizing my mistakes, I worked hard and had everything paid off, got my own apartment and was able to start fostering. As a single mother this made everything a bit challenging but oh so worth it.

Unfortunately, I was falsely accused of some bad things, and one of the kids in my house was taken away while an inquiry was underway. This happened in the beginning in December and this process took months. I was only working the bare minimum during this period in order to be present for all of the doctor visits and random appointments for the two who were still in my care. After working so hard to get my debt forgiven, as a result of having one of them removed, I found myself living on credit cards and a personal loan which significantly reduced the amount of money I had coming in to fund the necessities. Unfortunately, because of how long the investigation took, I had to stop making payments on the loan. When it was all said and done the investigation came back unfounded. Unfounded is the best possible outcome, as it means there was no foundation for the accusations. I was allowed to continue fostering because of this, but the harm had already been done. My credit score is bad and I'm still attempting to get out of a debt hole from the past.

I was no longer eligible to stay in my apartment when my last foster children both reached adulthood and wanted to move out, and I couldn't afford to go elsewhere in California. That is when my friends and I came to live in Utah.

Again, I'm aware that you are not required to pay for this, but I could use some assistance. I can no longer see a way out and I'm sinking. Whatever you can offer will be helpful. I'm grateful.
