I was a show jumping competitor, horse trainer and equine biomechanics instructor for 23 years. About 1 year ago I developed severe weakness in my muscles. After 8 different doctors I was finally diagnosed with exacerbated myasthenia gravis. Now I have no speaking ability, no future in my horse career and a new life journey that I'm not completely sure I'll ever navigate. My savings is depleted from trying to save my business and pay for uncovered costs of testing. I decided to reach out for help with my medical bills, Gammagard IV infusion treatments ( I need 5 to start then 1 every 25 days) and round bale hay for August 2022-August 2023. I am still holding on to some semblance of hope that future treatments might bring my leg use and speech back so that I can at least teach again and my 6 highly trained lesson horses (the loves of my life) will still have a home with me. To sell them would damage my soul and my personal identity. I'm not sure how much asking for funding assistance works as it seems like it will just pile up more guilt and heartache that I'm helpless, dependent and a failure as it did when my business suffered from covid 19 lockdowns. However, my optimism is still being fed by my dedicated and loyal clients who are insisting on seeing me through this because apparently I've done the same thing for them. If I receive some help with my situation I will continue to see them through the trials, tribulations and celebrations of horse education and ownership. Thank you for the chance to express my story. No matter what, I do realize that words last longer than money, so for those who are helping me to live with my chronic rare disease of MG, you are selfless and thank you will never be enough. I'm very fortunate to have your love and affection for me and for what I have to offer you. Even if my treatments don't come to fruition, I'll always have my relationships with you all from both the past and present, as well as, the knowledge that I was loved by so many of you that are now part of my entire being.
