Help Serena & Chrissy Rebuild: A Safe Vehicle, Shelter & a Path to Stability

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out because I’m currently in a difficult rebuilding phase of my life after a series of devastating losses. I recently lost my job, which unfortunately snowballed into losing both my home and my vehicle.

As someone living with a physical disability, losing my transportation has made an already difficult situation much harder. Relying on public transportation is physically painful and unpredictable, and it creates additional barriers for both me and my loyal dog, Chrissy.

Right now, my biggest priority is securing a safe, reliable vehicle.

For me, a vehicle is much more than transportation. At this point in my life, it would provide temporary shelter, protection from Florida's heat and storms, and the mobility I need to begin rebuilding. A spacious minivan or SUV would give me enough room to sleep more safely, manage my physical limitations, keep Chrissy secure, attend medical appointments, look for work, and eventually transition back into stable housing.

Why I'm Raising $12,500

I chose the $12,500 goal carefully. The goal isn't simply to purchase a vehicle. It is to create enough stability to give me a realistic opportunity to get back on my feet.

The funds would be allocated approximately as follows:

  • Reliable used minivan/SUV — $6,000
  • A dependable vehicle with enough space to accommodate my disability, Chrissy, and a safe temporary sleeping arrangement.
  • Florida tax, title & registration — $700
  • The necessary costs to legally put the vehicle on the road.
  • Initial auto insurance — $600
  • Funds for getting the vehicle insured and keeping it legally drivable while I work toward financial stability.
  • Initial inspection, repairs & maintenance — $750
  • A used vehicle needs to be properly inspected and may require immediate maintenance or repairs. Setting aside money for this helps prevent one unexpected mechanical problem from putting us right back where we started.
  • Basic sleeping, privacy & cooling setup — $500
  • Reflective window coverings, a supportive sleeping surface, ventilation/cooling, and other basic items that can make the vehicle safer and more manageable for me and Chrissy.
  • Fuel & transportation for rebuilding — $500
  • Fuel for medical appointments, job interviews, employment opportunities, and essential errands.
  • Food & basic necessities during the transition — $900
  • A temporary cushion for essential living expenses while I work toward employment and stable housing.
  • Phone/service & essential communication — $300
  • Keeping reliable communication available for employers, medical providers, assistance programs, and other resources.
  • Storage & moving essential belongings — $400
  • Helping protect and transport the belongings I still have while transitioning out of homelessness.
  • Veterinary/pet-care needs for Chrissy — $350
  • Basic care and necessities to keep Chrissy safe and healthy while we get through this transition together.
  • Emergency stability reserve — $1,500
  • This will be reserved for unexpected but necessary expenses such as vehicle repairs, emergency transportation, essential living costs, or other circumstances that could otherwise derail our progress.

The Goal Isn't Just to Survive — It's to Rebuild

I know $12,500 is a significant amount to ask for, which is why I want to be transparent about how I arrived at the goal.

I don't expect a vehicle alone to solve everything. What it can do is give me the foundation I need to start moving forward.

With reliable transportation, I can get to medical appointments, pursue employment opportunities, access resources, keep Chrissy safe, and have a secure place to sleep while I work toward permanent housing.

My hope is that this campaign can help turn an incredibly difficult chapter into the beginning of something better: mobility, safety, employment, and eventually a stable home again.

If you are able to contribute, every donation—regardless of size—brings us closer to that goal. If donating isn't possible, sharing this campaign with your friends, family, or social network is also an enormous help.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering helping me and Chrissy through this difficult chapter. Your support, kindness, and willingness to share our story mean more than I can put into words.

With gratitude,

Serena & Chrissy
