Chapman Family
Alexander (Xander) Chapman is the son of Jason and Diana Chapman. He is such a good kid and is loved by so many. He has so many friends and is a straight A student. Diana and Xander went on a cruise during October and Xander started feeling sick on the last day. Sore throat, weak, went limp and also had a few seizures. When they got back to Oklahoma on Sunday, they took him to urgent care who then sent him to the er because of the seizures he was having. Er did every test and everything came back negative and chest xray was clear. The er gave him cough medicine nd sent them home. They got him in to see his doctor on Tuesday afternoon. When they got to the doctor they took a look at him and called an ambulance. They then started to check his vitals. His oxygen level was in the 40s. Ambulance arrived and they bagged him to help with his oxygen. They got him to the er and even bagging him they could only get his oxygen in the 70s. They then had to intubate him and started doing tests and giving him meds and trying to figure out a game plan. The xray of his lungs on Sunday was fine, but the one they took at the er on Tuesday was completely white. They transferred him to children's hospital at ou and he has been in PICU since. At PICU they started him on ecmo (life support) and so many medicines. He has been up and down. He is on dialysis to help keep fluid off, still on multiple medications, still has the intubation tube in, ecmo started with 3 ports and down to only the one in his neck. We found out this all started because he got flu a and then he got pneumonia with MRSA. He has a spot in his abdomen that they are not sure what it is, but just waiting on that. His heart was doing good and lungs were getting better, until Tuesday and his heart stopped and they had to give him cpr because there was fluid around his heart. They made an incision to remove the fluid from the sack around his heart and are unable to get the incision to stop bleeding due to the the blood thinners he is on. They did an ultrasound on his lungs and found out that there are some dead spots on his lungs. The heart is doing better now that there is no fluid and brain activity is normal. They are planning on doing a CT scan in a few days, but it is very risky due to all the machines keeping him alive. They are saying this will be a longterm stay for him. He will be celebrating his 15th birthday in the ICU, Thanksgiving, Christmas, new years, and who knows what other holidays. Diana is having to go back to work so they can pay bills, but im hoping that this will help them with the bills and make it easier for them. Anything anyone can give to help would be such a blessing. Thank you all for everything you have already done and given.
