The Global Acupuncture Project has been working for 20 years to get more acupuncture into the hands of more people. In March 2023, I will be volunteering with them to teach acupuncture skills, techniques and protocols to participants in Chiapas, Mexico. We will be partnering with a local birthing center to empower community health workers, midwives, doctors, nurses and community members with the healing potential of acupuncture.

While living in Peru in 2018, I was able to volunteer with a local NGO to provide the direct service of acupuncture in the high Andean communities where they worked. It was an incredible experience, but ultimately, was not a sustainable way for me to volunteer.

I am so excited to have this opportunity to TEACH acupuncture in Chiapas; to help nourish the seeds of an ancestral medicine that has so much resonance with indigenous understandings of the body, our connection to Nature and the reciprocal dance of healing.
