Chris's Cancer Fund
My husband is getting ready to have a bone marrow transplant to help "put this cancer to sleep". Here is the background about Chris. He had been having back pain in the fall for 2025 that just wouldn't go away. We had been to urgent care multiple time, until one morning he couldn't take it anymore. He went into urgent care again. They finally took an x-ray where they found that his t8 had a compression fracture. Well anyone that knows anything you just don't break your back with no trama. They got him in for a mri the day before Thanksgiving. On the Saturday after Thanksgiving we received the test results. Chris woke up and looked at his medical portal where the finding of the mri was. He woke me up and told me he loved me but he had cancer throughout this bones. Mind you we had only been married less then 2 months. Within 30 minutes the urgent care doctor that ordered this test was calling. That day is day this family will never forget. Now fast forward to December we ment with the oncologist and without any other test the doctor knew what we were dealing with but we need a bone marrow biopsy. After that was done we had our diagnosis, it was multiple myeloma. They were shocked because its an "old man" cancer. Most people that have this cancer are over the age of 60 not 40. On December 22nd we started treatment. Now fast forward to April 14th, 2026. We went to Rochester to meet with the transplant doctor and he tells us that is cancer is in remission but we need to do the bone marrow transplant to put Chris's cancer "to sleep". So now here we are trying to figure out everything. Chris is a father of 2 amazing boys. He is the best husband ever. But when he has this transplant he has to have a caregiver and stay within 20 minutes from Mayo Rochester. I will be his caregiver while he is up there. That leaves our 2 boys and our 4 legged child Ruger ( he has been Chris's best friend through this whole thing) at home because that can't come with us. So family will be taking care of them.
So we are asking for help for the man that would give someone his last dollar it if would help them. We need help covering the cost of staying in Rochester. Also cover the bill and food at home for our boys. Chris will be receiving short term disability but it is only 60% of this paycheck and I will not be receiving a paycheck while we are gone due to not having vacation time. So any bit will help. This hard for us to ask for help because we are the people that help other.
Thank you
Katie( Chris's wife)
