Hi! My name is Christie and I am an oboe player. It has always been one of my musical life goals to be able to take my oboe playing and musical repertoire offering to the next level by having my own English Horn. An English Horn belongs to the same family as the oboe (double reed), and is pitched one fourth lower (similar to an alto saxophone versus a tenor saxophone in pitch difference). They have a smooth, rich, almost haunting voice and bring so much beauty and depth to an ensemble. I jokingly call it the "older, wiser sounding oboe". I've always hesitated to make a fundraiser for something like this because I know there's millions more people out there requiring assistance with more pressing needs, but lately I've felt this nudge from the universe that it's time for me and my future English Horn to finally unite!
