Wish Born
Cocoa's Pantry
Back in October 2024, I was unexpectedly let go from my job and my second one closed down. Since then, I've utilized pantry services to make sure my community and I had some type of food resource. Recently, I've had the opportunity to start my own service with the ability to drop food off to those who cannot physically access it themselves. I started off with 3 households, my aunt and her kids (And their new babies), myself with my roommate and a friend that is disabled. Soo, word in my close network spread, after a couple times I had so much extra that I didn't want to go to waste, then folx started checking in with me every week about food from the pantry, too.
Every Tuesday, for the past 8 months, my friends and I have served 14 households with food from our local food bank. Each household has anywhere between 2 to 12 adults, teenagers and children with limited food resources support them all.
Today, I'm reaching out to ask for support with continuing this pantry service.
Each week, we use about $50 in gas to transport food from the food bank to the pantry, then to everyone's home. We sort the food every week based on folx needs, dietary restrictions and whether they can physically access it.
Anything you can spare is greatly appreciated. If you or anyone you know need help with groceries every once in a while, let us know. We may have food to spare. Text "pantry" to 414-253-093 and fill out this form, https://forms.gle/CZwGdT35igXinBbj9
