Concert with Sanctuary Kitchen
I am the co-principal flutist with the Coast Guard Band and regularly perform with the New Haven Symphony. I recently volunteered at Sanctuary Kitchen which "was formed in 2017 to promote and celebrate the culinary traditions, cultures, and stories of refugees resettled in Connecticut." Just a few blocks away from my home, I helped refugee chefs prepare catering dishes for the day. While removing the husk from fava beans, I started talking to a refugee who was interested in learning more about western classical music.
A few weeks later, I gave her family three tickets for a New Haven Symphony concert. Her daughters really enjoyed the concert and wanted to go to more musical events. I have been wanting to connect my love of music, food, and culture for a while, and that is how my idea of a house concert with a Sanctuary Kitchen reception sprouted.
Please donate to support Sanctuary Kitchen's catering costs and musicians' performances. Any overflow donations will proceed to Sanctuary Kitchen.
Any amount will help support the chefs and musicians.
Event Details:
