Conquering Susan's Cancer

March 24, 2019 Update

Good afternoon,

Susan and I want to thank you for your gracious support over the last few months. We are so grateful to the Lord and to you for your love, prayers and financial support.

Susan continues to face the challenge of getting over the cancer surgery.

The doctors tell us that the surgery was successful and that her prognosis is very good. With that said, she continues to have good days and “not so good” days. We continue to believe for her complete healing because we know in Whom we have believed! He is able to keep that which we have committed unto Him!

Hallelujah!

We also want to report that due to the wonderful financial support by our family and friends we have reached almost one-third of our goal of $15,400. To date, we have raised $4,835.

We are still in need of $10,565. Please pray with us that all of the funds will come in over the next few weeks.

And, please feel free to share with others about our need.

I do want to also invite you to join us at Living Truth Church in Madisonville, TX on April 7 at 10:30 a.m. We will be ministering that morning for long-time friends, Lon and Sylvia McVeigh.

Again, Susan and I so appreciate your support. God bless you for your assistance.

Late in the spring of 2018 Susan and I received wonderfully exciting news. Our eldest daughter and her husband were going to have a baby! This was no normal baby. This was going to be our first grand baby. As one summer month flowed into another we softly spoke of what it was going to be like to spoil our family's tiny new life. We spoke of ice cream, overnighters, board games and trips to Disney World (which we stopped taking about 15 years ago). This next chapter in our life was going to be good…and fun. That was until Susan was diagnosed with colon cancer six weeks before our granddaughter was born. You see Susan's mom passed away a few years ago from cancer and even with our strong faith in God, the cancer diagnosis that we were given right after Thanksgiving was difficult to deal with, at best.

Colon cancer is one of the most severe forms of cancer. Tens of thousands of people are diagnosed with this horrible disease each year. Thankfully we found a great oncologist and surgeon. Each spoke positively and encouraged us to do the same. The surgeon was trained in the new Di Vinci technology which is one of the “latest in surgical and robotics technologies. It is designed to provide skilled surgeons even greater visualization, precision and expertise in performing more complex surgeries.” A few days after the new year Susan had colon cancer surgery. The surgeon said that he removed the whole tumor and that he believes that Susan will make a full recovery.

So, what is the problem? The hospital bill alone was over $51,000 and that did not include the cost of the surgeon, several MRI's, CT scans and a host of other required tests, medicines and follow up appointments. Even with the discounts and medical insurance, the bills are still more than $15,400. We really would like to have these bills paid in full before April 1, 2019.

Would you please consider giving?  You can see in the recent picture that our new grand-daughter was born and is such a joy to us! We are believing that those future trips to Disney World are in our future!

We will use every dollar you give to eliminate these medical bills and if more is given than needed, we will give every dollar left over to Samaritan's Purse. FYI, Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.

Please consider our request. Please give today.
