Coop's Mobility Van

First off, I have to say that my man Coop has been so strong through everything he's had to deal with.

He is, in all sincerity, my hero.

Muscular Dystrophy is absolutely awful, but he hardly complains...just chugs along...mostly just dealing with the cards he's been dealt aside from the occasional, and understandable, breakdown.

I knew that, through a divorce, I would have trouble making some ends meet, but always had faith that things would work out if the proper effort were involved.

I did also know that there would be things associated with Coop's care that I would need less-than-conventional help with, but had planned on fundraising through events such as bull roasts, shrimp & crab feasts, raffles, restaurant events & the like, but COVID has definitely killed those plans.

In these past 12 months Coop's shown decline more rapidly than ever.

UPDATE!!!! I've gotten a place that has wheelchair access & an accessible bathroom!!!!

...but there's one major thing that is missing.

A mobility van.

I bought the van we have with the idea that I'd be able to make the upgrades and use it as a mobility vehicle, but it's just not as easy, or cost effective as I thought, and now I'm locked in financially on a vehicle that can't even serve it's intended purpose.

I've been trying to make due, lifting him in & out of the van & carrying him in & out of entryways where his scooter and/or chair can't access, but my back's pretty much at its end.

The last two weeks have been spent either icing or resting the back, and logging hours in the chiropractor's office.

The thing is, the time's come for me to replace my pride with humility & simply ask for help in getting a mobility vehicle to make things better for Coop.

I've opened this FreeFunder account in hopes of helping with the cost of the van.

I've priced used vans, depending on the age, mileage & condition, anywhere from $20K-$50K on up.

I've also established a disability trust in which any funds that may be left over will go, and be used for any other medical equipment that he will be needing.

Thank you in advance to everyone who helps.
