This is a thesis film project for the Pratt Institute of Brooklyn.

The story follows unenthused and moody American high schooler Melody as she's sent to her French grandmother’s house in the middle of nowhere for the winter holidays. Melody and Mamie are forced to confront their inner shames as their cultural and generational differences come to a head. Through their love and new routines they see new sides of each other and both fall a little bit more in love with their lives.

Through lived experiences, constant phone calls with my grandmother, and some slight imagination I am creating this story as my thesis project. Beyond being simply a film for school, this project is a way to bring myself and my younger sister, who will be the lead actress, closer to our family in France. Getting to collaborate with my family has been the most incredible part of this project, and it's all the more exciting to know that this will be the first film of mine they'll be able to watch and understand.

I am lucky to be working alongside Helia Chaichi, who will be flying to France with me as the director of photography. Helia is an Iranian-Hungarian filmmaker who's incredibly talented at capturing nature and intimacy. She has a captivating and realistic style of filming that I believe will elevate this project. Together we've been working on how to best capture the beautiful town of Plestin les Greves, and Locquirec in Bretagne where we'll be shooting in January.

I am crowdfunding for this project as we need help to make this dream a reality! The budget for this film is going towards filming locations in Bretagne, equipment rentals, insurance for the equipment, food for the cast and crew, train tickets from Paris to Morlaix, and post production costs.
