Craft for Food

The Craft For FOOD Craft-A-Thon is Saturday March 23rd, 2024, 9 am to 9 pm. 12 hours of crafting!

The aim of this event is to raise money for our area's food supporting charities; The Roc, County Food To Share & the Foodbank. Prince Edward County has some of the highest food insecurities in Ontario. This means we have many people and families living here that are unable to feed themselves and their children 3 meals a day!

For this event we are asking that you help raise money that will be given to these charities to help feed our community. We are hoping that each person that is taking part will ask friends & family to donate to this event and sponsor you taking on the task of crafting for 12 hours on March 23rd. Can you craft a whole day away? You betcha!!

You are welcome to bring any craft of your choice but remember that you will be expected to clean up before you leave so that we leave the Dept Of Illumination's studio as we found it, clean & tidy.

We can only host 60 people in the space so please email Lesley if you want to attend and how long you plan to stay at the Armoury. This way we can make sure everyone gets a spot during the day. email [email protected]

Your sponsors can donate whatever amount they are comfortable with and put into the description who they are sponsoring for the Craft-A-Thon. We are hoping each crafter will aim to raise $100 in total from their sponsors, but this is only a goal we are aiming for, not a rule.

The plan is to craft from 9 am to 9 pm at the Armoury in the Department of Illumination's space, with as many breaks throughout the day as you need. We just want the majority of the 12 hours to be crafting!

There is no hard and fast rule of staying at the Armoury for the full 12 hours. You can spend part of that time at home crafting and part of the time crafting with us

We will have some fun activities going on throughout the day to keep our energy up and drop in friends are welcome.

If you want to show your support during the 12 hours you can drop in at the Armoury to make a donation or by bringing some food or drinks for the hard working crafters. You are also welcome to craft with us for a couple of hours.

Decide on what to pack for this full day of crafting fun. Bring a couple of your projects and every item you will possibly need to work on your craft.

Pack food & drinks and a potluck item that can be shared with others.

Since we are fundraising for food we are going to rely on people to take care of their own food & drink needs. There is a sink and a microwave. If you are taking part in the event we would really appreciate if you brought along a potluck item to share with people.

Things to Bring;

A cushion for your butt, it's going to be a looooooong day in a chair, or your own comfy camp chair.

A list of you sponsors that have donated in support of the Craft For Food on your behalf.

Water thermos that you can refill.

Food & snacks.

Potluck item to share. There is a only a small fridge so choose an item that we don't need to worry about sitting unrefridgerated during the day.

Everything you need to work on your personal craft.

Bring a few crafts in case you start getting bored.
