Hi! My name is Sharon and I've just turned 69. I live in Hyde Park, VT. I have two children, a son and a daughter. My daughter lives close to me but my son doesn't. My son lives across the US in Bend, OR. I don't get to see my son very often, usually once a year when he travels to VT. However he spends more time with his friends than time with me, (as he should). I had my children very late in life so he is 34 and my daughter is 29. I have raised them to live their lives with joy and to treat everybody with kindness. They have lived up this expectation. This year I came up with the crazy idea to drive across country, round trip, to visit him. To take my time and visit the United States as a tourist. I am getting older and I'm not sure how many years I have left that I will feel this confident again. I m traveling with my dog, so I won't be alone.

Here's my dilemma, I live on a strict budget, I am a lone woman and have no one to ask for funds. I saw this on the internet, so I figured I'd try it. I am planning the trip for the month of October, this will give me enough time to go across country and back, in a circle, and stay a week with my son. I am looking to raise $5000 as this will cover rental car, gas food and lodging on a tight budget. I am hoping that I can raise some monies to help me on my way. I don't use credit cards, so that is of no use to me. (someone made this suggestion, tight budget on social security).
