Damian's recovery
Damian has been a part of the New York City soccer scene for more than twenty years. This is an effort initiated by his soccer friends to help ease the financial burden of the upcoming medical bills.
On Saturday December 30 he was playing one of our last pickups of the year, when he collapsed with no contact or undue exertion.
The events unfolded eerily similar to what happened to Christian Eriksen before a global audience during Euro 2020. Luckily a team of paramedics were parked close by and responded immediately to the 911 call. After chest compressions and defibrillation he was taken by ambulance to a NY hospital where he is now making his recovery. Fortunately it appears that the medical prognosis is as good as one can hope for.
Damian is a Liverpool and Napoli supporter, so especially relevant for those of the same ilk.
I know it's a big ask but we are trying to raise $10,000 to help him and his family. An anonymous donor has offered to match the largest donation dollar for dollar.
UPDATE - we reached our initial target of $10K in one day, so we increased the campaign to $15K
Let's do this!
YNWA Damian!
