In May 2021 Darrell was enjoying a day of skateboarding with friends. He was enjoying doing what most 15 yr old boys do. He suffered a traumatic brain injury. He was life flighted to Sioux Falls SD from Rapid City. He had skull fractures, internal bleeding and hemorrhaging. He has since been doing OT, PT and speech. He has had to wear a helmet to protect him as he has had his skull plate removed. The swelling has gone down and has been confirmed to have surgery to have it replaced. The family resides 5 hours from the hospital Darrell receives care. His surgery in November 15th and we are looking to be able to gather enough funds for travel, lodging and food. Any additional fund will help offset medical needs. This young man will celebrate his 16th Bday just days before the surgery. We are blessed that he is here to celebrate another year with us.
