I’m creating this FreeFunder to raise money for a mobility aide that would greatly improve the quality of my life as someone with multiple chronic, rare, and permanent disabilities. 

This is more than a regular scooter or wheelchair. I am someone who lives independently, but on the third floor of a building without an elevator. This scooter breaks down and weighs a total of 42 pounds. That’s quite a bit of weight for me, but it’s realistic in terms of being able to carry upstairs, or having one of my friends and neighbors help me with it. 

The Dash Moto scooter is much more sleek in design and can fit in more places, which is ideal given I work (very part time) in residential behavioral health, so I’m essentially working in a house. This Dash Moto scooter is small enough and agile enough to make it around corners and hallways quite easily.

I have multiple health conditions that either limit my energy, or I get injured or sick quite often. I’m currently waiting for an MRI this week to see if I tore a ligament in my knee. I would also be able to hang my feeding tube backpack on the backrest of the seat. 

One of the biggest advantages is, it would allow me to participate in life more easily and often, as I wouldn’t have to figure out how much energy I have for the day. I miss out on so much because of my disabilities, and this would be a life worth living game changer. I could take my service dog out on longer walks while I right this Dash Moto scooter, I could spend more time with friends rather than resting at home because I’m worried about how drained I’ll be, and it’ll improve my depression and help me challenge my PTSD if I were out and about more. 

There are so many benefits to this product. 

The unfortunate thing is that it’s over $4,000 and insurance doesn’t cover it. That’s why I need your help. If you could donate to this fundraiser or share it with those who can, I am hopeful I can raise enough money to buy one for myself. 

As it stands, I receive social security disability, most of which pays my rent. I do work about once a week, but only when I’m well or uninjured, or if they have hours when I’m well and uninjured, given I’m an on-call staff. I don’t have any kind of disposable income, I barely pay all my bills as it is. So, this Dash Moto scooter is something I’ll never be able to afford on my own.
