James R Bertoty
Debra Scholarship Fund
Debra Bertoty was a Special Education teacher at Francis McClure Elementary School. On February 16th, 2019 she passed away at just 46 years old, after a brief illness. In honor of Debra's dedication to students with special needs, the Debra Bertoty Memorial Scholarship Fund. Each year at least one $1,000 scholarship is awarded to an IEP student who is pursuing a post-secondary program. In the 4 years since it's inception, we have been able to award 7 scholarships. The two scholarships were awarded this year. The first recipient was Navaya Demery. Navaya will be attending CCAC this fall to begin her pursuit of a career in Psychotherapy. The second recipient was Hannah MacIntyre will be attending Penn West University in California, Pennsylvania (formally California University of Pennsylvania) pursuing a degree in Early-Childhood Education.
In honor of my 53rd Birthday I will, once again, be raising money for my sister's scholarship fund. I am hoping to raise at least $1,000.00 so we are able to continue award scholarships and help the students who were most important to Debra.
I thank you, in advance, for your generosity. If you are unable to donate, please keep Navaya and Hannah in your prayers as they take the next step in their educational endeavors.
