Hello! My name is Rocky Shifflett and I want to thank you for exploring and hopefully considering to assist the Deserving Chance campaign! I have created Deserving Chance to help the increasing homeless population, which of whom are everyday humans like us who have a life and a story worth telling and listening to. Homelessness can impact anyone sadly from college graduates, doctors, teachers and a growing number of veterans. The goal for this campaign is to deliver fresh water, clothing, bedding and edible goods to the increasing number of underprivileged people in the world. Starting in the area around Washington, D.C. where 17.3 percent of residents residing within the district are homeless. Washington, D.C. is also home to the highest number of homeless veterans in the country. An astonishing 11% of homeless citizens are veterans. An astonishing 11% of homeless citizens are veterans, some of the greatest humans alive who risked their lives to ensure our borders remained safe and our citizens, free. The ultimate goal is to not only serve the homeless population in the D.C. Metropolitan Area, but eventually gain enough funds and volunteers around the nation to become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and release this campaigns values and message around the country and spread the basic necessities of life: water, food, shelter, love and a helping hand. As this campaign is starting from the ground up, any donation amount helps immensely and any person(s) willing to help volunteer their services is greatly appreciated!  As we know the rough, humid temperatures of the DMV summer is almost upon us and our homeless population 'is counting on good samaritans like ourselves to help keep them hydrated and skin protected to lower the risk of heat exhaustion and sun poisoning! The mission doesn't end there. As soon as the summer sun sets, this area's brutal winter will shortly be around the corner and people will be needing warm clothing and bedding. Thanks to this effort and the giving nature of human beings, I am hoping to jump start this campaign and start collecting funds to stock up on water to be able to supply the ones who need it the most and get a start on the needs of our fellow women, men and children for this upcoming winter. 100% of the proceeds will go to goods for the homeless, no penny will be used otherwise!
