Disabled Widow In Need
Hello :) My name is Michelle Gibbs and I am in dire need of funds to hold me over for food and gas expense for medical appointments until I receive my Dependent Indemnity Compensation payment from the VA. I am a disabled widow of a deceased Veteran of the USMC, who was 100% total and permanent disabled. His name is Kenneth Michael Gibbs. He sadly passed away in 2014. I was disabled myself caring for him and at that time we shared 1 daughter who was 10 yrs old and also raising three of his daughters from a previous marriage. By the grace of God, in July 2015, I finally was able to have a delayed surgery for degenerative disc disease requiring a two-level spinal fusion surgery. I recovered from that and over the years I made do somehow for us all until my youngest turned 18 last October losing $900 per month in income. I have worsened with my health over the last few years and also have severe calcification in both my shoulders, a thyroid issue and degenerative bone disease, osteoarthritis and just went through leep surgery on my cervix. I have been in the reconsideration phase for Social Security disability for 3 years. I recently had problems with my transmission and had to trade my vehicle in for another which took all of my savings. On a good note, I just got the wonderful news that I meet the medical requirements for disability. At this point they are reviewing the non-medical requirements and I'm hoping to get a reward letter soon. I had to move out of my home because it was hard to make all of my rent because of high utility bills and the purchase of another vehicle. I'm living temporarily in a apartment being rehabilitated with no working plumbing or air conditioning. I will catch up by the grace of God but at this time I am asking for anyone's help to donate money to my cause until I can get back up on my feet financially. Over the years I have been a caregiver even though I had my own disability. I think there is still lots of humanity out there in these hard times. I see it every day and pray for those in need and I do help when I can. I just need a little bit of help for now until my DIC payment comes in, as I am looking for new housing and asking the VA and housing authority for help. Thank you so much for reading my story that led me to this platform! Prayers and good wishes to all who seek out help on this funding site for those in need!
