Discipleship Tuition Fund
My name is Leahamarie Michelle Fiddie. Over the past couple of months I have been prayerfully considering a life-changing decision. For quite sometime now I've felt called to go to Costa Rica. I looked into doing a work exchange yet none of them seemed to be the right fit. I kept pushing the idea of Costa Rica out of my mind, considering the thought to be impossible. Every time I pushed the idea from my mind, God would give me a sign to reconfirm this is what He wanted me to pursue. So I asked my pastor to pray for me because I had no idea whatsoever how I was supposed to get to Costa Rica or what I was supposed to do there. My pastor prayed that God would either completely remove this desire from my mind (if it was not in God's will) but that if it was in God's will that He would show me exactly how to get there and what I would be doing there. The very next day I was called into work and reconnected with my friend who had encouraged me a year ago to pursue my love for missions. Meeting her resulted in me going to Cuba with Lockwood Community Church. So upon seeing her again, I told her the dream God had placed in my heart to go to Costa Rica. She's been involved with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) for a few years now and informed me of the fact that Costa Rica is home to more than one base. I immediately felt in my heart that THIS is what God had been calling me to do. This was God answering how and why I needed to go to Costa Rica! So as soon as God told me yes, I told Him ALL the reasons why I shouldn't go. Finances, health issues, leaving my cat for an extended period of time.. any and every reason why I shouldn't go. But God being as wise as He is told me to step out in faith instead of fear. After much consideration I applied to the YWAM base of Heredia, Costa Rica.
I am ECSTATIC to announce that I have officially been accepted into the Discipleship Training Program. What does that mean exactly? Well, for one.. I will be moving to Costa Rica for schooling beginning this upcoming September. I will spend 2 1/2 months in training and 2 1/2 participating in outreach. The goal of this training program is to know God and make God known. I will be spending all of my days in Costa Rica listening to God, worshipping Him, growing closer in prayer, and most important of all.. showing His love to others. I will be participating in a Compassion DTS. The cool thing about a Compassion DTS is that we will be doing outreach to the poor and needy every week. We will also learn skills regarding healthcare and community development to use during the outreach phase. After the initial 2 1/2 months of lecture phase my classmates and I will be traveling to Argentina to work with sex trafficking victims, prostitutes, homeless people, feeding the poor, teaching English, kid's ministry, any and every way we are needed in the community, we're God's hands!
This is an accredited course through the University of the Nations and the tuition is $4,000. I will need help in the days to come with fundraising, prayer, and emotional support. I will be very sad to leave those I love for 5 months but I am excited for this next step in my journey!
Although tuition is $4,000 I am asking for $4,500 to help cover international health insurance as well as my travel expenses to and from Costa Rica.
I look forward to engaging with everyone digitally and plan on uploading videos and blog posts regularly to show everyone what I will be learning and how I'll be applying it.
