Dog's face shattered
Recently woman was walking her dog(appears to be a bull terrier) near my home. Essentially her dog was too strong and pulled her across the street towards my fence where my small chihuahua was BEHIND my tall, solid privacy fence. My small dog's 1 inch snout reached under to smell who was walking by. My dog was then assaulted shattering the entire top palate of her mouth, her tongue partially removed, lost 5 teeth, both bones around her eye shattered and lost vision in her left eye due to a trauma ulcer. She needed a feeding tube through her neck to keep her alive as well as tubes in her nose/snout to keep it open to breathe. She has completed one surgery to sew her mouth back together, and has multiple days of an ER stay including fluids and oxygen. She still needs one additional surgery to close the last remaining hole in the top of her mouth. This has been extremely traumatizing for my family and especially my 5 year old daughter who considers Lucy her best friend. The cost has been substantial as well costing over $13,000 and we are still not done. Police are actively looking for her to prosecute but Michigan considers dogs property so we do not know how things will proceed.
