This fundraiser is to create an endowment giving scholarships in Dr. Fazle Rabbi's memory to students pursuing education in his areas of passion - students of engineering and management, students in rural Bangladesh, and students of Islam in America.
Abba was a wonderful compassionate person, an idealist, and extremely passionate about education. He believed in the power of education to transform the lives of individuals, families and whole societies, and worked to the end of his life to promote education - whether in his capacity as a Professor of Supply Chain Management at the University of Business and Technology in Saudi Arabia, or in developing a vocational training program in his native Bangladesh or in managing a group of scholars and professionals to found a website translating quality Islamic material to Bengali, or the numerous other projects he was involved with. He was a lifelong student, daily striving to increase his professional, personal and spiritual knowledge; during family vacations, I would see him pull out his laptop during a quiet moment to practice a new language or develop a new skill, and a pile of books he ordered recently for yet another certification course sits waiting at my sister-in-law's house.
We hope you will contribute to this legacy of Abba's passion for both technical and spiritual education and keep him in your prayers. If you prefer your donation goes to one of the particular scholarships (Engineering/Management, rural Bangladesh or Islam in America) please indicate it in your donation. Otherwise, we will fund whichever scholarship needs it most. Thank you!
