Driving for Freedom

I am Ruth Onsum, past missionary and nurse. This is my friend, Steven Obah, a 28 year old Nigerian who has been the “man of the house” since he was 6 years old, when his father left. He put himself through college, graduating with honors, with a degree in Accounting. He is a very responsible, honorable, hardworking Christian man who just lost his job after a flare up of malaria. Even with his degree, he is still only able to earn $200-$300 per month. It is difficult to survive with this income and he needs a way to earn more money, other than the internet scamming that his peers are doing.

After considering many possibilities, he has decided that the opportunity that is most suitable for him is to become an Uber driver. He could work his own hours and, with his energy, drive and past experience as a chauffeur, he could make enough money to support himself. However, he has no way to save up money to buy a vehicle to use. If he could get $10,000 (by loan and/or gift), he could buy a car adequate for taxi work.

This would mean so much to Steve, to be able to fully support himself. A Taxi job would also allow him flexible hours to earn A Master's Degree and enable him to get a better paying job.
This campaign was my idea, not his, as he is uncomfortable asking for help. He wants to support himself and to “be there” for his family. He says "God Will Bless" anyone who offers him help.
