Elderly needs help!
Hello, my name is Kevin, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult moments of my life.
I’ve been diagnosed with the need for both hips to be replaced. On my right side, I’m missing a section of hip bone about the size of a half dollar where my leg bone connects. Because of this, I can barely walk and cannot stand for long periods. Once I’m able to have surgery and recover, I will be able to work again—but right now, I simply can’t.
On top of this, I’ve faced serious health complications. I’ve been battling pneumonia for over seven months, which forced my hip surgery to be rescheduled. After severe coughing, I cracked three ribs and punctured my left lung. I’ve also been diagnosed with an enlarged heart, along with shortness of breath, swelling in my ankles, and sudden weight gain. Three generations of men in my family passed away from heart attacks at age 55, so at 62, I truly feel grateful—and determined—to keep going.
I’ve been out of work for over a year and have exhausted all my savings. Remodeling homes has been my life’s work—I’ve completed over 45 homes, including 11 in my own neighborhood. Sadly, my physical limitations have made it impossible to continue for now.
After renting the same home for more than 13 years, the owner passed away. The family has terminated my lease and is selling the property. As a result, I will be homeless for the first time in my life on January 1, 2026. I have no income, no savings left, and currently rely on food assistance just to eat.
I may be forced to live in my van, but when my hip surgery happens, I will urgently need a safe, stable place to recover and rehabilitate. I also have my dog, Junior, a 2-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog and Border Collie mix, who is my constant companion and emotional support.
I am the last surviving member of my family. I have no relatives to turn to and no safety net.
My immediate goal is to secure safe housing and basic living support so I am not recovering from major surgery while homeless. Funds raised will help cover housing costs, utilities, transportation to medical appointments, food, and care for Junior while I heal. This support will give me the stability I desperately need to get through surgery, regain my mobility, and return to work. With help now, this crisis can become a turning point—not the end of my story, but the beginning of recovery and independence.
If you’re able to help in any way—through a donation or by sharing my story—it would mean more than I can put into words. Your kindness could quite literally help save my future. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you’re able to give.
