Ella- Jane's new world
Ella- Jane (aka "EJ") entered the world 7/19/26 at 37 weeks due to Fetal Growth Restriction- She has remained in the NICU since birth. Due to factors of EJ's health, she is going to be seeing many specialist and there is no set time frame of her release.
Ella-Jane was originally admitted to the NICU due to subgaleal hematoma following 3 failed vacuum attempts during birth. After further evaluation, doctors found EJ's bottom jaw was underdeveloped and recessed which has affected her ability to feed by mouth and also causes obstructions in the airway. Following a swallow study, it has been determined unsafe for EJ to continue to practice thin liquids by bottle feeding due to silent aspiration. This is the main cause of EJs extended stay in the NICU. She is continuing to practice and learn how to feed by mouth with the support of her NICU medical team. There have been conversations of potential surgery to correct EJ's jaw to improve her ability to feed and better open her air ways, this is needed to determine release and if she will need a feed tube at home.
Her right ear is also underdeveloped which will lead to a need for hearing aids in the future.
These funds will help Zack, Bri, and Ella-Jane with medical and regular bills as they navigate medical needs and next steps.
