Hi. I have some dear friends, Darrell Bratcher and Carrie Sheppard, who have been doing through some very tough times, including homelessness, only to be compounded with being involved in a 4-car collision, which wrecked their "home" and only source of income, as they have been scraping by by DoorDashing. They are from Frankfort, Kentucky (my home state). Due to some unavoidable circumstances, they became homeless in October. Sometimes they make enough to stay in a motel, other times they've slept in the car. I've helped them out financially as much as I could, but now that their needs have become greater, I asked if I could set them up a FreeFunder. I chose this one because it has no processing fees.

It's easier to judge than to be compassionate, and realizing this can help to open your minds and hearts to help. Hard times happen to all of us, and unfortunate circumstances could land some of us in a similar situation. One of them has diabetes, and both of them have pain issues, exacerbated by sleeping in the car. They have two furry family members who provide them important emotional support.

I have watched them struggle and suffer for many months, and would love it if my and their family and friends and even strangers would touch them by helping them with this difficult situation. Family help is very limited, so urgent help is needed. The deductible for the car insurance is $1000, so they will be fixing the car themselves by buying junkyard parts and installing themselves.

Any donated funds will go to repairing the car, medications, food, a place to stay and other needed incidentals. One tire is ruined. It is more than superficial damage. They are grateful that no one was injured.
