❤️ PLEASE READ WITH AN OPEN HEART. ❤️
I know that when a family with children asks for financial help, there can sometimes be judgment, assumptions, and hateful comments. So before anyone makes assumptions about us, I am asking you to please take a moment to hear our story.
We are not asking for a handout because we don’t want to work for what we have. We are asking for help because we are trying to keep a roof over our children’s heads while we work toward a better, more stable future.
We are a family of five: my husband, myself, our 18-year-old, our 10-year-old son who is level 3 autistic and has Type 1 diabetes, and our 7-year-old. We also have a cat who is part of our family.
Right now, we are facing the possibility of losing our home. The owner is trying to sell the property, because she has to go bankrupt or lose everything.
We currently pay $900 a month in rent. We have searched and searched for another rental that we can realistically afford, but finding a home large enough for our family within our budget has been incredibly difficult. Even if we somehow managed to get help with a deposit and moving costs, we are worried about being able to sustain the higher monthly rent long-term.
❤️ There is some hope on the horizon. ❤️ My husband recently got a better job, and we are incredibly grateful for that opportunity. The difficult part is that his new job is two hours away from where we currently live, and the area where we need to be is even more expensive.
We have tried multiple mortgage lenders because our dream is to have a place of our own. Unfortunately, we have been told that we need to pay down debt and improve our credit before we can qualify. We aren’t giving up on that dream. We just aren’t in a position to make it happen today.
So we are trying to find a safe, temporary solution while we get back on our feet.
One possibility is an RV or motorhome that we could live in temporarily while my husband works his new job and we save, pay down debt, improve our credit, and work toward purchasing a home.
We have reached out on Facebook, hoping someone might know of an RV or motorhome they no longer need, one they would be willing to rent to us affordably, or another option we haven’t thought of. So far, we haven’t found anything.
And now, I am swallowing my pride and asking for help.
I don’t want my children to spend this winter without a safe, warm place to sleep.
I don’t want us to reach the point where our only option is sleeping in our van and worrying about what happens next. With our son’s additional needs, having a safe and stable place for our family is especially important.
If you are able to donate even a few dollars, it would mean more to us than I could ever explain. Every little bit could help us move closer to a safe temporary living situation.
If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this post. You never know who in your circle might have an affordable RV, know someone looking to sell one, have a rental lead, or be able to connect us with someone who can help.
We are also open to affordable RV or motorhome rental opportunities, temporary housing leads, and other realistic solutions that could help us bridge this gap.
I understand that not everyone will be able to help. I understand that everyone has their own struggles. I am not asking anyone to give what they cannot afford.
I am simply a mother trying to protect her children, a wife trying to stand beside her husband as we work toward a better future, and a person who is doing her best to find a way through a really frightening situation.
If you feel the need to judge us, I cannot stop you. But I hope that, instead, you will choose compassion. None of us knows when life might take an unexpected turn and leave us needing a little help from someone else.
Sometimes, being the light in someone’s life means helping them find their way through the darkest moment. ✨
If you can help us in any way, whether through a donation, a share, an affordable RV lead, or simply pointing us toward a possible solution, please reach out.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, for caring, and for giving our family a little hope when we need it most. ❤️
Please help us find a safe place to call home.
