Emergency Housing Fund
EDIT:
Hey everyone, Kassius here! Thanks so much for all your help. It's been incredibly stressful riding the edge of losing our housing for months, struggling with the landlord/rental company and managing an old and extremely neglected home. The new house is a breath of fresh air. It feels like I can breathe for the first time in a while.
Working on the remodel, moving and finding what work we can has taken up a lot of energy and resources, so I haven't been online much. We're applying to and interviewing for new jobs, and have both had our first vaccinations so we can work safely in a few weeks. We're still below our goal overall and need to cover living expenses, as well as work on reliable transportation while we're getting on our feet. Thanks so, so much for your help everyone. 2020 was rough and we weren't doing so hot before the global pandemic. 💜💜💜💜💜
ORIGINAL POST (Check updates for more information.)
This week the landlord made a surprise visit to show the house to a potential buyer, and we were told to clean for the house to be shown to other potential buyers on Friday. We have every intention to have the house in order for the viewing, but our roommate is moving out this week so their things are in boxes. We got this notice on our front on our front door today:

He's very transparently trying to evict us before the lease is up so he can sell the house, it's listed on Zillow already for sale even though the lease isn't up for a few more months. The landlord opportunistically tried to evict us during a gap in a local Covid-19 rent moratorium in August, and crowdfunding helped me save my home. Other houses in this low-income, historically black neighborhood are getting flipped, fast.
The house itself has broken windows and lots of bugs even in the winter and appliances much older than me. Parts of the ceiling are actually caved in. It is the cheapest place possible, and we can't afford it. I've put hundreds of hours into cleaning, organizing and home improvement because the leasing office doesn't help us if something goes wrong. We spent a month in darkness because the ceiling lights shorted. There's really no amount of cleaning we can do, between moving and the things the landlord himself neglected, that will satisfy a landlord determined to push us out. We have to leave, and will likely only have until 12/13/2020 to do so. There are a couple places we could go immediately afterwards, but we need a home.
I've researched homes for rent in our city for a few hours today. 800$ is the absolute highest we could go for rent, and there is very little that is below that price available from my research. We will have to find a new roommate, but I can do the legwork on that myself. I will tap every resource I'm sent if anyone knows organizations or charities that can help a couple disabled trans people losing their home because of gentrification during a global pandemic.
3000$ would cover proof of income, application fees, security deposit, and setting up utilities in a new home. We also have medical expenses (including HRT) to cover. We are going to need a new car, the one we have would cost several thousand dollars to get repaired and made street legal. I'm confident I can find a new car for less than 1000$ and will need to register and insure it. Pearl can find steady work as a delivery driver again if we have an insured car.
Pearl, has lived here for years. She's always been able to hold it down on her own working as a delivery driver, but her car was totaled right before quarantine started. Neither of us qualified for unemployment. Nobody wants to leave the house to catch their death. I personally have severe asthma, and deal with chronic pain that makes it hard to walk and stand for long periods of time. I do my best to manage pretty debilitating Bipolar disorder and PTSD. Pearl is also autistic and suffers from depression. It breaks my heart to see what the stress of constantly being on the brink of homelessness does to her. We need the help badly.
We're not prepared to move, and are quarantining very strictly because neither of us could afford medical treatment if we got sick. Covid-19 is worse than ever now, and we need support finding a new home quickly, as well as a vehicle so we can make money and cover medical and living expenses.
