Shelly and I rescued Fitz not long after moving in together in 2015. He’s our first born. The most opinionated, grouchy, loving, muffin-mittens you’ve ever met (or been swatted by).

Fitzgerald gave us quite the scare earlier this week and had to be rushed to the emergency vet with a 104* temp (about 2-3 degrees over normal for cats).

Since then, he’s had bloodwork, X-rays, an EKG, an ultrasound, and a urinalysis. The only thing they’ve confirmed so far is that he *may* have a virus, but confirmed longterm gastrointestinal inflammatory disease. It could be cancer, but the vet is waiting to see if current symptoms improve from a prescription diet change.

After spending 2 nights in the ICU to stabilize him, we’re happy to report he’s back home and seemingly being his old self.

We’re asking for help to cover the costs of his emergency hospitalization, diagnostics, and ongoing treatment. This expense was very much unexpected and higher than anything we can currently save for. Even as a full time fundraiser, I still have feels about asking for help with expenses like these. But if there’s anything I know, it’s that our community knows deeply how important these fuzzy friends are.
