Emergency vet funds
One of the most amazing things about being part of the reptile community is knowing that when one of our own is in trouble all to often their fellow reptile lovers band together to help said person. We are a community in every sense of the word.
Well now is one of those times...
A few weeks ago a dear friend and fellow breeder, Rebecca Hyuck of Moonshine Reptiles, started noticing some very distressing symptoms in one of her pregnant blue tongue skinks. It was foaming at the mouth, gulping HUGE breaths, and looking overly at deaths door. Rebecca rushed SkinkyMink to her vet clinic where they preformed emergency surgery to remove a whopping 18 babies from the skinks belly. After being sewn up and watched over for a day the skink was sent home to recover. All said and done the trip cost Rebecca thousands.
But now a second female skink, her favorite Luna, is showing distressingly similar symptoms and needs to be rushed to the vet as soon as possible. After having dumped out every penny she had on both SkinkyMinks emergency surgery and an upcoming surgery on her dog, Rebecca is in dire need of help to get Luna the life saving vet care she needs.
Rebecca is one of my absolute favorite people I have ever met in the reptile community. She is always happy to help out when needed, is a pleasure to deal with and just an all around amazing woman. And she is a dear friend. She has turned a lifelong passion into a full blown business. But now she needs OUR help. Please donate and share. Every cent with help. And if you can't share this page to help get the word out. Lets help her save Luna.
UPDATE: since this was written Luna passed away...she (and the 19 babies and 3 slugs) that Rebecca pulled from her body after death are currently undergoing necropsies, in addition to the standard post mortem, the livers and some tissues will be sent out for analysis in light of recent issues other people have had with potentially contaminated food sources , that showed similar symptomology. These tests are expensive, but may prove useful to the community as a whole
Additionally, there is now a third female showing (possible) early symptoms of the other two, who will at minimum need to be seen by vet soon to run tests and take an x ray.
Any help u can give, including sharing this fundraiser, is greatly appreciated.
