Help fund my study abroad trip to Panama for Summer 2023!

I recently was accepted into the Loop Study Abroad Program, which gives pre-veterinary students the opportunity to study abroad while gaining important animal experience. I'm asking family and friends to help donate for the program fees and travel funds for this amazing opportunity to continue my studies. The destination I chose was Panama, mostly for their unique and diverse wildlife. I am super proud and excited for this opportunity to study veterinary medicine in a new way. I'm extremely grateful for any donations that will help further my studies in veterinary medicine on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. 

During the 2 week Panama Pre-Vet Clinic Wildlife program, I will be able to work in a wildlife veterinary hospital and a sloth sanctuary to learn more about wildlife medicine in both a clinical and natural setting.

I will have the opportunity to;

• Learn about the care of sloths, anteaters, toucans, cats, kinkajous, monkeys, and other Central American wildlife
• Perform a complete physical exam on a sloth
• Perform veterinary labs such as wildlife necropsies, coprological exams, suturing techniques and more
• Learn about the rescue, rehabilitation, and release process, including: what makes an animal fit for release back into the wild, and the behavior and welfare of wildlife in care
• Radiology and ultrasonography of wildlife and exotic species
• Join daily rounds in the clinic to discuss current hospital in-patients and cases
• Surgical shadowing opportunities
• Dedicated workshops to learn about and practice in the handling and restraint of small mammals, reptiles, and birds (including birds of prey)
• Chemical restraint and anesthesia of wildlife
• Types of injuries sustained by wildlife and their treatment
• Learn about the advanced medical care of wildlife, including physiotherapy, laser therapy and orthopaedic surgeries (and get involved with any cases treated during your time!) 

The program is an amazing resume builder to help my journey to veterinary school. Through the 2 weeks, I will obtain 60 service hours, 60 veterinary hours, and 3 college credits (all required for admission to veterinary school in the future).

I'm very excited to further my animal experience into a new field of veterinary medicine. While I love working in small animal clinics, I want to become a more well-rounded candidate for veterinary school, with experience in all species, such as wildlife and aquatics.
