Hello everyone, My name is Valary and in the picture above is Emmy. I have had Emmy now in my care since early May 2019. After her grandmother passed away from a long battle with cancer. Emmy was staying with her parents and her grandmother in grandma's apartment and after her passing they were evicted for nonpayment of rent. After staying with a friend and being kicked out of there Emmy came in the middle of the night with her uncle who asked me to keep her safe while he went to look for her father. To make a long story short I soon learned of Emmy's parents were unable to find suitable housing for her to stay with them at which time her father requested me to keep her for what I had assumed would be a few days maybe a week at most. Now nearing 3 years later and Emmy has become a much loved part of my entire family. She amazes me daily at her determination, intelligence, as well as her natural instinct to show a kindness and compassion that sets her apart from most other children who have to be constantly reminded to be kind humans throughout their childhood. This is most definitely a quality in Emmy that we share as I have always done my best to be kind to others show compassion and always offer any help I find myself in position to offer another person in a time of need. Although the kindness trait has often gotten me abused and taken advantage of in my life I pray the good lord protects my sweet girl from experiencing too much of this hardship that often comes with a compassion for others and a need to help others to fill our hearts with joy at the thought of being just what a person needed at that time in their life. This trait has really hurt me this year and more devastating than myself Emmy will actually be who ultimately suffers should the lord not provide me with a way to do in 10 days what took me nearly 10 months of this year. I had saved little sums throughout the year this year tucked away in what I thought was a safe place in my home. I had finally made my goal of $1000 in late September and felt a sense of pride that Emmy would have a great Christmas this year. Then in early October I got a call from someone I once considered a good friend saying he had just graduated a 90 treatment program he asked could he please stay a couple nights in my home until his check from an inheritance came in so that he could get housing. a week at most he said. Wanting to encourage his recovery I agreed with no hesitation. To shorten this for time sake his week turned to 2 weeks and no check insight. I noticed a change in his behavior at which time I decided it best to ask him to leave. He found someone to pick him up and was awaiting this friend to pick him up I decided to leave to pick Emmy up from a friends home. Upon returning home something seemed wrong in my gut I felt something was not right. I went to my hiding spot for Emmy's Christmas fund only to be devastated by this "Friend" stealing what equals a month with of pay for me that I saved all year to give Emmy the gifts she more than deserves and now I fear my desire to help someone in need will now negatively effect Emmy's happiness on Christmas morning. So I ask anyone who can spare anything this holiday season to make up for my mistake that has robbed this sweet baby of her Christmas morning she has looked forward to all year.
