My name is Nina Christine Gorman from Philadelphia, PA USA, a 67 year old psychotherapist and psychology instructor. I am doing this campaign for my friends in Khan Yunis, Gaza of  Enas Naim Suleiman Abu Eid Al-Omar (age 25) and her husband Khaled Muhamed Khalil Al-Najjar (age 31)  and their three children, 6 year old Alexander, 5 year old Nour and 3 year old Nepal so they can survive the Gaza war and hopefully evacuate to Egypt to start a new life in another country. 

  I came to know Enas about a year ago through a friend of mine in Gaza, an artist whose art work I had purchased. They were his long time neighbors. Enas and I had many conversations on facebook messenger on various social topics and our personal lives. I came to know Enas as a steadfast woman very dedicated to her children and husband and a lover of peace.

  I was especially heartbroken to hear of her recent loss of her baby Zahira who was only one day old. Khaled was in a panic before they lost the baby since he feared losing Enas. Luckily Enas survived despite the bleeding but they are still grieving and heartbroken. The rates of stillbirth and miscarriage are very high in Gaza since due to the cruel blockade of food, fuel, medicine,  and electricity, now as of time of this writing a total blockade with many preterm births and women unable to nurse.

 Like most in Gaza, the family home was destroyed in bombing and they have been displaced multiple times to escape bombing with no place ever safe in Gaza, known even before the war as the largest open air prison in the world since they are trapped there behind a 60 meter wall and cannot flee even in genocide. 

  Now Enas and Khaled struggle  to buy food and drink with prices sky high and meat, eggs and green vegetables very hard to find. One egg is now one dollar like the price of one apple or one tomato when 85 % of the population has  no income. Women like Enas are prone to anemia and she still needs medicine of iron and supplements and anticoagulants post the loss of the baby which are expensive. All in Gaza especially children and elderly  are prone to illnesses especially respiratory, hepatitis and parasitic infections with everyone needing this  medications that are expensive and scarce due to the blockade.

   Due to this nightmare of genocide by every means possible, after much deliberation, Enas and Khaled made the painful decision to leave their country to evacuate to Egypt  when the crossings open to hopefully start a new life in another country free from war, and fear of bombs and starvation and sickness. I hope you will help to survive to alleviate their suffering and fears and help their new life become not just a hope but a reality. Their suffering is unbearable and their fear unimaginable .Please help them alleviate it and save them from genocide.

Here is Enas in her own words:

   I am Enas from Khan Yunis, Gaza, Palestine. I am 25 years old. I do not know where to start  since is hard to think after 18 months of this cruel war. There are really no words to describe it. Before the war it was not easy since the occupation restricted our food, contaminated our water, killed our fishermen, polluted our seas and we could not leave to visit other places or to go out to study or work.  But at least before the war we had some work with my husband and I farming. We were able to survive and feed the children and have some basics of comfort. Everything has been a horrible struggle for us since the war. It is a struggle to eat, a struggle to sleep, a struggle to find water to drink, a struggle for warmth,  a struggle for cool a struggle from the rain and floods, and struggle for clothes,  a struggle to avoid the stench of garbage all around you, a struggle not to be sick, a struggle to comfort your crying children when they are hungry or scared of the bombs.

Even with all this struggle, I think the worst day of my life may have been when I gave birth to my baby. Zahira and she did not survive more than one day. Even though we knew she would be born in the hell of this war, we felt her in my belly, bonded with her and the children waited for her but no sooner had she come than she was gone. Thank God for my faith because without it I do not know if I could have endured it. We still grieve her but trust there is meaning to this, that Allah is the best disposer of our affairs  and that we will see her again in heaven.

Now we do not have a home since like most homes in Gaza it was bombed and with it all of our possessions and many memories. We have endured  hunger worse that during the 18 year blockade that was collective punishment just as this war has been for the past year and half.  We have seen things and heard things that no human being should see or hear like babies and children exploded, trapped in rubble,   burned and amputated with no pain medicine,  and the occupation blocking or bombing the ambulances to save them, like children orphaned in the street looking for their parents competing with the dogs for food.

  The day I write this there is ceasefire but yet the planes are still shooting at us and the tanks are at the border and we hear on the news that they are preparing to enter because the occupation has not agreed to its own signed agreement to stop the war.  We are tired of it all. So sick and tired. As soon as we feel some hope that relief is coming, they take it away. They have taken everything away, everything except our love for each other and our determination to survive.

Gaza is no longer Gaza. It will always be home to us though. This is our land but there is nothing here now to sustain life. We are determined to do what has to be done even if it means our hearts breaking to leave our land and start a new life. We will return though since we are Palestinians. But now we have to live and keep our children alive and help them heal from the trauma if that is possible. I urge you to give what you can to help us survive and to evacuate so that we can live and have a little comfort and heal some until we can return.  We will be eternally grateful and no donation is too little.  May God bless you and keep you and we thank you for your kindness.
