Ending The Catch-up Cycle

In November of 2020, my friend’s life was turned upside down by something completely out of their control.

An incorrect mixup with COVID-19 test results caused them to be wrongly forced to remain in the hospital for 10 days. During that time they couldn’t advocate for themselves in a meaningful way — and most critically, couldn’t work because their computer was at home.

At the time, they held a fully remote position — a job that should have been secure even during a pandemic. But being unexpectedly unreachable for 10 days cost them that job.

And that’s where everything began to unravel.

Losing that income so suddenly caused their everyday bills — rent, utilities, and basic living expenses — to start piling up. What began as a short-term disruption quickly snowballed into a long-term financial burden.

Fast forward a few years, and they are still fighting to catch up.

Not because they haven’t tried — but because digging out of a hole caused by lost income is incredibly difficult, especially when interest, late fees, and the cost of living keep working against you.

Since then, they have done everything they can to recover. They’ve consistently worked two jobs at the same time, and pushed forward without giving up. But despite all of that effort, the weight of those older bills has never fully gone away.

This isn’t someone asking for a handout.

This is someone who has been doing the work for years — and just needs a chance to finally get ahead of a situation they never should have been in.

We’re raising money to help them close that gap once and for all — to pay down those lingering overdue bills and give them the fresh start they’ve been working toward for over five years.

This support would mean more than just financial relief. It would mean stability. It would mean breathing room. It would mean finally being able to move forward instead of constantly looking back.

If you’re able to donate, any amount makes a real difference. And if you can’t, sharing this campaign would mean just as much.

Thank you for taking the time to read, support, and help change someone’s life for the better.
