Enriching Jamaican Youth
Runaway Bay Primary and Infant School is nestled in the hills of St. Ann's Parish, Jamaica. This school has been educating young minds for more than 50 years and is the hometown of my partner, Drew Pennant. Some children walk more than 5 miles a day from their hillside homes to receive a basic education with limited resources.
The Williams and Pennant families are asking for your help to rebuild the school's library with much needed books and school supplies. Drew and I were able to secure a decent amount of used books from the school where I teach, but more is needed. Unfortunately, getting supplies to the island is expensive and tedious.
The process: barrels are purchased, then filled with books and supplies, a company then picks them up to ship. Once they arrive in Jamaica, there are docking, port and delivery fees. We've secured 10 barrels thus far. Needless to say, these costs tend to add up quickly. Any donations to make this a reality for the children at Runaway Bay Primary and Infant School would be greatly appreciated.
Our goal is $5,000.
School supplies= $2,250
Cost of each barrel- $50x10= $500
Cost to ship each barrel- $75x10= $750
Docking fee $110 for each barrel= $1,100
Transport from Montego Bay to school= $400
