Escape To College
"That one is strong headed," is a phrase I've heard my entire life. I am fiercely independent, and I was raised to believe that there are no handouts. To get where you're going, you have to do it all by yourself. So for most of my life, that's what I did.
As soon as I could get a job, I got one. As soon as I could drive, I got two jobs. Any opportunity there was to work, I took it. I started taking college classes in high school, had multiple jobs, and just kept going. When I was in college, I took on three jobs, to be able to pay for myself. I didn't want my family to have to worry about me.
In 2025, I was in a bad car accident that unearthed several health problems. I discovered I have Chiari Malformation type 1 and chronic migraines, which put physical limitations on me. This slowed me down quite a bit in my work and life, and caused other health problems that I have slowly been figuring out. That didn't stop me from dreaming big, and I found a college I want to attend.
I will be able to get scholarships, have access to help, and be able to further my education. But the truth is, I'm afraid to not have a job for the first time. I'm afraid of letting myself focus on school and actually be a good student, without working 3 jobs. I know that I have the capacity to do this, and I deserve and owe it to myself to be the best person I can be, despite the limitations I've been given.
This fund would be used for rent, pop up medical expenses, and the occasional help to supplement income if I need to find other work. This is simply a way to help support a dream, one I will accomplish no matter what. But any help, even a few cents, is appreciated.
Thank you for helping a girl who, in a world where she has been told she can't, is fighting to prove she can.
