EX U.S Army Wife Help
Dear compassionate souls, I come before you with a story of resilience, heartbreak, and an unwavering spirit that refuses to surrender to adversity. At 24, I stood as a U.S. military wife and the spouse of an oral surgeon resident at a U.S Army hospital, only to face a profound injustice that altered the course of my life. In the hands of an inexperienced surgeon, I was misdiagnosed and underwent a procedure that left me without my left vagus nerve, robbing me of my voice, swallow muscles, and the essence of what makes me, me. Multiple surgeries followed at renowned institutions like UCLA, Boston Mass General, and UCSF, each an attempt to reclaim what had been callously taken away. In a civil hospital, individuals with my diagnosis don't face paralysis. The vagus nerve, a vital conductor of life's symphony, was callously disregarded. Without it, a part of me withers – my voice, social being, and identity erode. The daily battle is one of both physical and emotional agony. Swallowing becomes an arduous task, breathing induces pain, laughter hurts, and socializing is a struggle. My throat, a constant source of pain, serves as a reminder of the betrayal that unfolded when my husband abandoned me in my darkest hour. Now, I find myself unable to support myself. Legal recourse brought a settlement, but the aftermath left me grappling with financial strain. Low income, denied by medical coverage, and with aspirations unfulfilled, I stand at a crossroads, yearning for a chance to rebuild. Your generosity can be the beacon of hope that illuminates my path. The funds raised will not only alleviate the burden of bills and medical expenses but also empower me to pursue education. I dream of a career that transcends my vocal limitations, allowing me to work part-time, rebuilding my life and contributing to society in a meaningful way. As I navigate this journey, your kindness becomes the catalyst for justice and restoration. In the face of hardship, I hold on to faith, believing that there are compassionate souls out there who will stand beside me, shaping a brighter future. Thank you for being the compassionate force that can bring justice and healing into my life.
