Eye Can't See
I lost my eye glasses in the river recently and I don't have a backup.
I haven't been able to find a job since I lost my job last April. It's a tough job market, right now. I have chronic health conditions that I have to consider when getting a job. Aside from that, nobody is going to hire someone that can't see well enough to perform their job.
I've been trying to get help from local programs, but no luck with anyone getting back to me.
I have specific vision problems that require me to have an eye exam in order to get new glasses. I have no functional vision in my left eye due to retina detachment in 2012 that was unable to be corrected after 5 surgeries and I have a cataract developing in my right eye. I have had a previous retina detachment in my right eye in 2002 that was corrected.
Funds received will be used for an eye exam, basic frames, lenses necessary for my prescription and help with basic cost of living expenses until I get my glasses. Because of my prescription, my glasses aren't something that can be done by a store that does same-day eye glasses. It usually takes a 7-10 days. I would also need an appointment for the exam, which could take time.
I understand that many people are having it rough and I appreciate any help I can get.
