My bestie has been raising her 9yo grandson, Ezra. In the past year, Ezra has been hospitalized over 15 times and missed the greater portion of the school year due to difficulties with mental illness and intellectual disability. It has become glaringly evident that he would benefit from the assistance of a service dog.

Lara, Ezra's grandma, has raised him without the assistance of child support, even while she still has 4 of her own minor children living at home. His needs are such that she is unable to work and the family is supported solely on her husband's income.  

In the past several months, Ezra has had a few chance encounters with service dogs that belong to other people and several professionals have urged Lara to find one for him. He is prone to uncontrollable self-harm and other troublesome psychiatric behaviors that make obtaining a service dog necessary for his ongoing safety.

All funds raised will be used specifically for the obtaining, feeding, veterinary care, training (the bulk of the expense), equipment, and continuing upkeep of a dog for Ezra. The family has a well reputed local trainer waiting to assist in training a dog to specifically serve Ezra's particular needs.
