Feline Recovery Fund

Hello everyone!

This is a fundraiser for Jude. Here is his story.

Last week I was taking a walk when out of the corner of my eye, I saw the flurry of bushy cat tail pass behind a car across the street. I looked over and even from about 40 feet away, I could see this cat was really hurt. He had a huge wound that stretched from behind his right ear down to the base of his neck. He was missing fur on his neck, chest, legs, and front paws. His fur was matted with dead skin and dried blood. He was skin and bone - and likely had just days left before dying from his injuries.

I spent 5 full days, waiting outside for him to go into the live trap I set for him - and thankfully, I was able to catch him because once I did, I saw that there was a huge abscess forming near the open wound - which indicated infection was setting in. Here are a few photos of of him from those days I spent tracking him (This website does not allow me to adjust the orientation.)

Luckily, once I trapped him, I was able to get him into the vet the next day. He received great care from Dr.Nied at Red Barn Clinic in Cutlerville. Here is a summary of what we had done for him.

-Wound cleaned and abscess drained and stitched

-Drain tube installed

-Treatment for fleas, ticks, and worms

-Neutered

-Matted fur removal

-Rabies Vaccine

-FIV test

Total Cost of vet bill: $397

Here is a photo of him now - recovering in a kennel in my home! He is mostly sleeping, but he does come out to eat and use the litter box. He is doing well. I haven't been able to get a picture of the wound post-op, but it is looking very healthy :).

My goal is to raise enough money to cover the vet costs of this visit and any extra will be used for future treatment over the next few weeks or donated to the Red Barn Clinic where he was given treatment.

My intention is to keep Jude long enough to help him recover, and socialize him and then I will do my best to find the perfect home for him. I intend to give him the best life possible - and will keep you all apprised of his recovery!

Thank you!
