The Five Freedoms protected by the First Amendment - freedoms of Religion, Speech, Press, Assembly and Petition - are under attack all across the United States like never before. First Freedoms needs your help now more than ever! Your civil rights, human rights and religious liberty are in jeopardy. Our ability to help those around the country is limited by our budget, which is why we are reaching out for your help today.

We support legal cases and advocacy where the rubber meets the road: rights to access to school, rights to free speech, rights to peacefully assemble to protest, rights to safely open your businesses and rights to keep your job without religious discrimination.

Freedom of Religion

·      We will continue our work to litigate to restore religious exemptions in NY (and potentially other states) in 2021. None of the cases we were involved in were dismissed, but 2020 was NOT the year to appeal the case we nearly won in 2019 due to COVID closures. 2021 is a different story!

·      In 2021, we will litigate to win distance learning for the children of the faithful who were kicked out of school but not offered distance learning, which is religious discrimination.

·      In 2021, there is a massive need for religious exemption to protect employees and students from employer (or government) mandated COVID-19 mandates.

·      We both advocating to keep religious exemptions in multiple states and we are preparing to litigate in multiple states to restore them, if lost.

·      First Freedoms is a member of the International Relgious Freedom roundtable, and we organized the religious leaders who spoke at the VIE Event in DC.

Freedom of Speech and Press

·      The United States is currently facing unprecedented mainstream media and social media censorship. First Freedoms co-hosted a conference on this subject a short time ago.

·      We were able to restore individual and business Facebook accounts which were wrongly closed in the past year, and we will continue this work to fight censorship.

Freedom of Assembly and Petition

·      We have represented activists who were arresting in multiple states for peacefully protesting. Most of those arrested were not in a position to pay.

In addition, we have successfully helped challenge Governors in multiple states to open gyms, restaurants, pool halls, churches and schools.

In 2021, the reality is that we may have no choice but to fight for these civil liberties and rights in Court. It is no secret that the legislatures which are removing these rights are places in which the assembly, Senate and Governor are under one party rule. Washington DC is now also under one party rule. Your rights are hanging in the balance, and the Courts will have to step in when the legislatures pass un-American laws.
