Fighting for visitation!
Greetings everyone, and thanks so much for taking the time to read my story. My name is Jeremy and I am a Critical Care Paramedic, and have been doing this job for over 24 years. I have never been the one to ask for help from anyone, and have always been the one called to help others in their time of need. I love what I do and it has been my calling for forever. I live in Oklahoma and have lived here now since 2020. It’s an amazing work environment where I used to work as a flight paramedic and now work as a ground paramedic for an amazingly great county based ambulance service. I have one child, a beautiful and extremely smart and talented daughter whom I love greatly. Her mother and I got married while right pretty young, and we moved all around the country with me working as a paramedic everywhere we went. We eventually settled down in Wyoming and later in our life we had our daughter. I always really wanted a kiddo but my then wife was more worried about climbing the corporate ladder and really didn’t want kids. I guess I got lucky but I don’t think she felt like she did. We drifted apart in our relationship and were both miserable. We ended up divorcing after way too many fights about money and the fact that she felt as though she was better than me, because of her advanced degree and job. I’ll be the first to say I did wrong and strayed from the marriage. I felt terrible and as often happens I tried to lie to hide it. But we eventually divorced. We did all the paperwork on our own and outlined in the divorce decree how we were going to coparent and she assured me that she would never use my daughter as a pawn in an attempt to hurt me. Fast forward and I moved to Oklahoma and was driving back and was glad to do so on my own dime to spend time with my daughter. Over the past few years my ex wife has done everything in her power to keep my daughter from visiting me for any real meaningful time. She gets my daughter for 50 weeks of the year and I only get to spend time with her for two weeks. The most recent visit concluded yesterday when my ex wife accused me of trying to keep my daughter for longer than two weeks and the way that she said I did this was to intentionally be late to the airport, causing her to miss her unaccompanied minor flight back to Wyoming. This was totally not the case and it was legitimately outside of my control. We arrived at the airport 1 1/2 hours in advance and during the time the ticketing agent was filling out the unaccompanied minor paperwork l, Delta gave away her seat. This delayed her return to Wyoming until the next day. I was blamed for this and accused of being a liar and was berated on the phone to be made feel like a total failure and piece of trash for over an hour by my ex wife. My daughter even heard this conversation and saw me crying about how bad I was made to feel over something that was of no control of mine. My daughter made it home and she interrogated her about the events that happened, and when my daughter didn’t want to get involved, she grounded her!. Fast forward to today, she is now threatening to limit my visitation even more and she wants to make everything more difficult and make me pay for her (my ex) to travel back and forth once a year to drop my daughter off at my home and pick her up. I am at a total loss and am in desperate need of financial help to be able to hire a family law lawyer in Wyoming to have a fair visitation schedule made up, filed and fought for in court. My wife’s parents a extremely rich and I’m just a paramedic that lives pay check to paycheck. My wife also gets 500.00 per month of child support from me which apparently she has been telling my daughter that I don’t pay! Without help to fight this evil person I may not get to be the father my daughter deserves. Please help me fight this completely wrong and detrimental insanity. Without help I know I have no chance and I don't know where to turn. I appreciate any and all help anyone can afford to give me toward being able to hire a good lawyer to help me get the time with my daughter that she deserves. Again thank you so much for reading my story and I hope that will be able to right this wrong.
