Finding a Way Back
Hello. I’m looking to raise funds to assist me in getting a place to stay for myself and my kids, making my vehicle more safe & reliable, and catching up on some major debts I’m behind due to lost wages from malicious prosecution and parental alienation. Over the last 30 months, I was falsely accused of assault on a female and assault by strangulation by my youngest son’s mother in Craven County, North Carolina. Our youngest son, who is on the Spectrum for Autism, was used as the material witness against me. It began a string of 758 days I was not able to see or speak to him, as it was deemed I may try to coerce his story. Yet he was in sole custody of my accuser the entire time. Somehow, it took 4months for the county to get a recorded statement from our child, in which he gave them a picture story in segments- which is how he learned difficult social stories, not recall them. His memory and ability to relay events is well above average compared to his peers. Three months later I was finally indicted, but didn’t get to trial until the following July, taking 17 months total. I was found not guilty of the strangulation, but guilty of assault on a female even though I was able to prove that most of the report filed against me was fictitious. I’ve never had any domestic violence offenses in my life. Only one assault was on my record before this, and that was a fight my freshman year of college that involved two other men. I was given the maximum sentence (150 days) even though my attorney and I offered several alternatives. I had worked for the same company for 13 years at this time, and had worked my way to upper management. The incarceration caused my 16 year old son to have to move back in with his mother and cost me almost 65% of my income, as other people had to be hired to do my job. While incarcerated, the same county that sent my away conveniently “forgot” to pick me up to bring me to a family court hearing for me to try and establish a visitation/custody arrangement for my youngest son, and I maintained the home and bills for my residence before incarceration so that I had a place to be able to have our son upon my release. The home was the same place we lived as a family, so it was rather costly. I didn’t find out about the size of my pay cut until after my release, which made maintaining that residence untenable. It made living and providing for 1 child full time and the other every other weekend extremely difficult. Finding gainful employment in the form of a second job has been extremely difficult as my recent conviction does not encourage hardly any interviews. I’ve had to move from the residence we were at as it’s not affordable and no programs for assistance I’ve applied for have yielded any positive fruit. I’m just trying to get stabilized so that I can continue to be the father I was to my boys and begin to peice life back together. I’ve exhausted many avenues in trying to find solutions to help to no avail. My debt incurred is more than I’ve listed to raise, as I’m not looking for the easy road or to have life handled for me. I just want a fair shake at regaining what was wrongfully taken from me and the help to provide stability for my boys as we work through this hurdle of life. I appreciate anyone who took the time to read this, regardless of whether assistance was provided or not and am open to collaborations for alienated parents or any other causes to stop events like this from happening. Hopefully i be able to put more efforts forth in that avenue once I get back on track with my primary objective of preparing my boys for manhood and avoiding predicaments like I allowed myself to be in. For the record, I maintain my innocence, but understand where my fault lies in even having this situation be possible and stand accountable for my actual actions. Again, thank you for reading and have a blessed day!
