For my birthday, I want to trace my paternal lineage by raising money for a DNA test.

My great-great-grandfather Adam Reid was an orphan and all attempts I've made to research his heritage further have stalled due to lack of records.  Recently, I learned about the Y-chromosome DNA test,specifically the Y-67 test found here: https://www.familytreedna.com/products/y-dna .  This test could be exactly the type of information I need to find my way past this genealogy roadblock.  This test and website could link me with others who are connected through ancestors of my orphaned GG-grandfather.

Researching this sort of thing is mostly vanity, so it's always been pretty low on the budget priority list.  Other expenses always take precedent.  I thought maybe if I asked for this as a birthday present, folks could chip in small amounts so that I could eventually have it done.

So here we are.  I usually don't ask for birthday presents.  I'm putting a single thing on my list this year: raising money to get the Y-67 DNA test and continue my genealogy research.  Any little bit you'd care to chip in will be earmarked for getting this test, once the fund permit.
