Kel and I never imagined we would be asking for help like this, but we are running out of time for our 13-year-old chihuahua, Fiona.

Her condition has been getting worse, and we truly believe she may only have weeks — possibly even days — to get the testing she urgently needs.

We are asking for help now because these next steps could be the difference between finally getting answers for Fiona or losing the chance to help her in time.

Fiona is Kel's little shadow, our constant companion, and one of the biggest hearts of our home. She’s sassy, barky, full of personality, and absolutely loves attention. If you’ve ever met a Fiona, you know she is unforgettable and has one of the best souls I've ever met.

For the past few months, Fiona has been struggling with a persistent cough that has slowly become more concerning. We’ve taken her to the vet many times, tried several different medications, and followed every recommendation we’ve been given. Unfortunately, nothing has stopped the coughing, and watching her become more uncomfortable each day has been heartbreaking.

The hardest part is not knowing why this is happening and seeing her struggle every day.

Following our regular veterinarian’s recommendation, we took Fiona to an internal medicine specialist to help figure out what could be causing her cough. After evaluating her, the specialist told us the next critical step is advanced testing with a cardiologist to try to find answers.

The first test is an echocardiogram (cardiac ultrasound), which will cost $1,300. If we are able to afford additional testing, they also want to do a Endoscopy of Fiona's Trachea, throat culture, and CT scan which would cost an additional $7,800.

Altogether, we were quoted close to $9,100 for the testing and follow-up care needed to finally understand what is going on and give Fiona the best chance at getting the help she needs.

We want to be honest — these expenses are beyond what Kel and I can manage on our own right now.

For the last several weeks, we’ve spent many nights lying awake trying to figure out what to do next. Fiona is family to us. She has been by our side through so much, and we can’t imagine not doing everything possible to help her now.

That’s why we’re reaching out.

Our hope is to raise enough to get Fiona the testing she needs so we can understand what’s wrong and help her feel better. Even if we don’t reach the full goal, every donation will go directly toward her care, medications, and keeping her as comfortable as possible while we keep searching for answers.
