My name is Rachel Martin and I am a 17 year old student at Troy Athens High School in Troy, Michigan. This year, my school raised 155k during our charity week, and it inspired me to believe that coming together as a community can result in real change. Flint still does not have clean water. The House GOP has quietly closed the investigation surrounding the Flint Water Crisis, leaving residents without access to clean water unless a filter is used. For many, however, the damage has already been done. The state government hiding the reality of the contaminated water has led to disease, rashes, possible brain damage in children, and several deaths. Even worse, Flint residents are going to be required to pay for the water that they cannot drink without a filter.
