Bea's Race for the Port!

Bea Querido-Rico

for Port of Seattle Commissioner

Why Support Bea?

Bea is a newcomer in the world of local politics. She currently works at the Port of Seattle and is the only candidate in the race that has direct Port of Seattle operations experience. As an engineer, she loves to solve problems and she's entered this race because not only is she interested in leading innovative changes at The Port of Seattle but also to challenge a political system that will enable more women and underrepresented communities to have a voice in our government.

Bea's family immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in 1988, and like many people, sought  to find quality jobs, live safely, and to be free. She is a supply chain and logistics engineer and started her career in network and space systems at the Boeing Company. She's actively involved in her community, serving as a champion for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math careers. She is very interested in engaging the community to actively participate in the dialogue about the Space Transportation, Travel, & Tourism market.

Overcoming the Odds

Bea's life story has always been to work smarter and harder than the rest. At 5'3'' and a woman of color, she's always been up against a system that wasn't set up for success for people like her. From being one of three women in classroom packed with men during engineering school to being the only woman around a table of older men in suits in the board room, Bea finds a way for her voice to be heard and her ideas to be counted.

While she sees the race as an uphill battle against her opponents who are political heavy hitters in local politics with deep pockets, she is optimistic because she believes there is a way to bring the community together and rally for a more transparent and innovative government.

Your support in her race will represent the people who struggle to be heard, the out of the box thinkers + doers, the people who aren't able to follow the straight line, the champions of inclusivity, and the risk takers who take that first step into the unknown...
