Hello,

My name is Cierra Brown and I’m the creator of Mycogirly, a community based food education project out of Oakland, California. I teach people how to grow their own food, specifically mushrooms, so they don’t have to rely fully on a system that keeps food expensive and out of reach.

Food prices are rising and many people can no longer afford groceries the way they used to. My work shows people how to grow fresh, nutrient rich food at home using simple, repeatable methods. I document the process step by step, answer questions live, and help people feel confident doing this for themselves.

Mycogirly also centers women, especially Black women and girls, in food growing spaces where we are often underrepresented. This work is not about trends. It is about survival, health, independence, and long term well being.

I am reaching out to ask whether you or your team support grassroots community projects like this. I am seeking $650 to cover the basic supplies needed to begin mushroom cultivation and educational documentation. This support would allow me to grow immediately, teach consistently, and keep this information free and accessible to the community.

This work is about giving people real tools to live longer, eat better, and take control of something essential. I would appreciate the opportunity to share more if there is alignment.
