Free Gerardo Fund

Gerardo Alvarado was brought here by his parents when he was 8 years old. His parents were fleeing El Salvador as the political violence grew worse. At a Birthday Party when he was 8 years old, he witnessed 2 murders happen right before his eyes. His parents gathered their family and left the very next day. They came to America for the dream of a better life. Gerardo grew up in the Bay Area of California, met his wife, Ali, and together they built a marriage and life together and have a beautiful 2 year old girl named Gabriella.

Ali and Gerardo have been working diligently on him becoming a citizen since they got married 5 years ago. They have done all their paperwork, paid all their fees, (over 10k) and Gerardo was set to receive his US Citizenship in less than 12 months. We told him when it finally happened, that we would throw him a big party.

Gerardo was abducted by I.C.E. on Tuesday, March 31st in the early morning, when Gerardo went outside to turn on the car. He was going to drive Ali to her work as a Kindergarten teacher. They only have one car, so sometimes he would drive her to work and pick her up so he could have the car during the day. Gerardo was detained, surrounded by ICE, and forced into a cop car, where he was taken to downtown Sacramento.

Gerardo was a Stay-At-Home Dad, full time, to his little girl Gabriella. The bond they share is profound. He is an incredible caretaker of his little girl and runs the household as Ali works full-time. He has a good heart, is a Christian, and loves being a Dad more than anything. He is also eager to work, but his options in the US have been limited as he is not yet a citizen. He talked about when he finally became one, that he would like to work in Special Education, as he has experience with his brother.

Gerardo is now in an Internment Camp in Southern California. He is living in a Prison, and paying for his parent's decision to come to America. The process of attempting to get him out of prison, back home, and NOT deported back to El Salvador, is difficult and expensive. We are therefore doing a fundraiser for their family so they can pay lawyer fees, and get full time childcare for Gabriella, who no longer has her primary caretaker. If he does get deported, there is a 10 year ban on him of ever entering the United States. He would rarely, if ever, get to see his daughter and wife.

Please consider contributing to the Alvarado Family Fundraiser to Free Gerardo. Thank you and God Bless.
